Authorship Criteria

Jurnal FisTa: Fisika dan Terapannya is committed to ensuring that authorship accurately reflects the intellectual and scholarly contributions of individuals involved in research and manuscript preparation. Authorship provides academic recognition and carries responsibility for the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of published scientific work.

All individuals listed as authors must meet the journal's authorship criteria and agree to take responsibility for their contributions to the manuscript.

1. Authorship Criteria

To qualify for authorship, an individual must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Make a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the study, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of research data.
  2. Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
  3. Review and approve the final version of the manuscript before submission and publication.
  4. Agree to be accountable for their contributions and cooperate in addressing questions concerning the accuracy or integrity of the published work.

All individuals who meet these criteria should be appropriately recognized as authors. Authorship must not be assigned solely on the basis of academic position, institutional authority, supervision, or financial support without a qualifying scholarly contribution.

Individuals who provide technical assistance, administrative support, access to facilities, funding acquisition, or other contributions that do not meet the authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately, with their permission.

2. Author Contributions

Authors are encouraged to describe their individual contributions to the research and preparation of the manuscript clearly and accurately.

Contributions may include conceptualization, methodology, investigation, formal analysis, data curation, software development, validation, visualization, writing of the original draft, review and editing, supervision, project administration, and funding acquisition.

The contribution statement should identify the responsibilities of each author using names or initials consistently with the manuscript. All authors must review and agree upon the contribution statement before submission.

The acknowledgment of a contribution does not automatically establish eligibility for authorship. Individuals listed as authors must satisfy the authorship criteria described above.

3. Author Order and Changes in Authorship

The order of authors must be determined through mutual agreement among all authors before manuscript submission. The journal does not determine authorship order on behalf of the research team.

Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after submission must be communicated to the editorial team and accompanied by:

  1. A clear explanation of the reasons for the proposed change.
  2. Written agreement from all authors concerned, including any author being added or removed.
  3. An updated author contribution statement, when applicable.

The editorial team may postpone consideration of the requested change until the necessary information and agreements have been provided.

Changes in authorship after publication will be considered only when properly justified and may require a formal correction to the published article.

4. Unacceptable Authorship Practices

Jurnal FisTa: Fisika dan Terapannya does not permit inappropriate or misleading authorship practices, including:

  • Gift Authorship: Listing an individual as an author without sufficient scholarly contribution to the research or manuscript.
  • Guest Authorship: Including an individual primarily because of academic reputation, institutional position, or perceived influence rather than a qualifying scholarly contribution.
  • Ghost Authorship: Omitting an individual who has made substantial contributions that qualify the individual for authorship.

All authors are expected to disclose their contributions honestly. Any indication of inappropriate authorship may be subject to editorial assessment and further clarification.

5. Responsibilities of the Corresponding Author

The corresponding author serves as the primary contact between the authors and the editorial team throughout the manuscript submission, peer-review, revision, and publication processes.

The corresponding author is responsible for:

  1. Ensuring that all listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria.
  2. Confirming that all authors have reviewed and approved the submitted manuscript.
  3. Ensuring that all authors agree on the order of authorship and the accuracy of their institutional affiliations.
  4. Communicating editorial decisions and revision requests to all co-authors.
  5. Coordinating responses to reviewers and ensuring that significant manuscript revisions are acknowledged and approved by the authors concerned.
  6. Maintaining communication with the editorial team regarding any questions or concerns arising before or after publication.

The designation of a corresponding author does not reduce the accountability of other authors for their respective scholarly contributions.

6. Authorship Disputes

Any disagreement concerning authorship eligibility, author order, author contributions, or changes in authorship should be reported to the editorial team.

The editorial team may request written clarification, supporting documentation, or confirmation from the authors involved. Authorship disputes should preferably be resolved through agreement among the contributing researchers.

If a dispute cannot be resolved through editorial correspondence, the journal may refer the matter to the relevant affiliated institution or research organization for further consideration.

The journal follows relevant principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) when addressing authorship concerns and will take appropriate editorial action when necessary.
