Manuscript Types
Jurnal FisTa: Fisika dan Terapannya accepts two types of manuscripts for publication: Article (Research Article) and Review (Review Article). All submitted manuscripts must be relevant to the journal's objectives and scope and demonstrate scientific quality, originality, and compliance with publication ethics.
Authors are required to select the appropriate manuscript type during submission through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.
1. Article (Research Article)
A Research Article presents original scientific findings obtained through systematic investigation in physics and applied physics. The manuscript must address a clearly defined research problem, apply appropriate scientific methods, and present findings that contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge or technological applications.
Research Articles may include experimental investigations, physical measurements, material synthesis and characterization, theoretical studies, mathematical modeling, computational simulations, instrumentation development, and interdisciplinary applications of physics.
A Research Article should generally contain the following components:
- Title and Author Information: A concise and informative title, author names, institutional affiliations, and corresponding author details.
- Abstract and Keywords: A summary of the research background, objectives, methods, principal findings, and conclusions.
- Introduction: Research background, relevant previous studies, research gap, scientific novelty, and research objectives.
- Methods: Research design, materials, instruments, experimental procedures, theoretical approaches, computational methods, and data analysis, as applicable.
- Results and Discussion: Presentation of research findings, scientific interpretation, comparison with relevant literature, and explanation of the research contribution.
- Conclusion: A concise statement of the main findings and their scientific implications.
- Declarations: Statements required under the journal's editorial and ethical policies.
- References: Relevant scientific literature cited consistently according to the journal's reference guidelines.
Research Articles must present findings supported by sufficient scientific evidence. Manuscripts that merely reproduce established results without a clear research contribution may not satisfy the journal's publication requirements.
2. Review (Review Article)
A Review Article presents a critical and comprehensive examination of published scientific literature on a specific topic within physics or applied physics. Review Articles should provide a structured synthesis of existing knowledge, evaluate relevant scientific developments, identify research gaps or unresolved issues, and discuss opportunities for future investigation.
The journal welcomes review manuscripts that provide meaningful scientific analysis rather than merely summarizing or compiling previous publications.
Review Articles may employ narrative, systematic, or other academically appropriate literature-review approaches. The approach must be clearly explained, and the depth of analysis should be appropriate to the objectives and scope of the review.
A Review Article should generally contain the following components:
- Title and Author Information: A title identifying the subject of the review, author names, institutional affiliations, and corresponding author details.
- Abstract and Keywords: A concise description of the review objectives, approach, principal findings, and conclusions.
- Introduction: Scientific background, significance of the topic, relevant developments, and objectives of the review.
- Review Approach or Method: An explanation of the literature coverage, selection approach, and analytical framework. For systematic reviews, authors should describe relevant databases, search strategies, eligibility criteria, and study-selection procedures.
- Review and Discussion: A structured and critical synthesis of previous research, including scientific comparisons, methodological strengths and limitations, agreements and inconsistencies among findings, and identified research gaps.
- Conclusion: A synthesis of the current state of knowledge, major findings, remaining challenges, and potential directions for future research.
- Declarations: Statements required under the journal's editorial and ethical policies.
- References: Relevant scientific sources supporting the analysis and discussion.
Review Articles are expected to demonstrate critical evaluation and scholarly synthesis. A descriptive summary of publications without substantive analysis or an identifiable scientific contribution is insufficient.
3. General Requirements for Both Manuscript Types
All Research Articles and Review Articles submitted to Jurnal FisTa must comply with the following requirements:
- The manuscript must be relevant to the journal's objectives and scope.
- The manuscript must be original, free from plagiarism, and not simultaneously submitted to another journal.
- The objectives, scientific approach, findings, and scholarly contribution must be clearly presented.
- Scientific statements and interpretations must be supported by relevant evidence and appropriate references.
- Tables, figures, graphs, and equations must be numbered consistently, cited in the text before they appear, and accompanied by appropriate explanations.
- The manuscript must follow the journal's official article template and formatting requirements.
- All authors must comply with the journal's publication ethics, authorship criteria, conflicts of interest, and generative artificial intelligence policies.
- Relevant declarations must be provided in accordance with the journal's submission requirements.
4. Editorial Evaluation and Peer Review
Both manuscript types are subject to initial editorial screening and peer review in accordance with the journal's editorial procedures.
Research Articles are evaluated based on the relevance of the research problem, methodological appropriateness, reliability of findings, scientific interpretation, and originality of the contribution.
Review Articles are evaluated based on the relevance and adequacy of the reviewed literature, transparency of the review approach, depth of critical analysis, quality of scientific synthesis, and contribution to understanding the reviewed subject.
The final editorial decision is based on the scientific merit of the manuscript, peer-review recommendations, and compliance with the journal's publication policies.
