Author Guidelines

Manuscripts submitted to Jurnal FisTa: Fisika dan Terapannya must be prepared in accordance with the official journal template and author guidelines. The journal accepts two types of manuscripts: Research Articles and Review Articles.

Authors are required to use the official Jurnal FisTa 2026 Manuscript Template when preparing their manuscripts to ensure consistency in formatting, structure, and scientific presentation.

Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).

Accepted Manuscript Types

Jurnal FisTa accepts the following two types of manuscripts:

  • Research Article
A Research Article presents original scientific findings obtained through experimental investigations, measurements, theoretical analyses, computational studies, numerical simulations, modeling, or other appropriate research approaches. The manuscript must clearly explain the research objectives, methodology, results, scientific interpretation, and contribution to existing knowledge.
  • Review Article
A Review Article presents a critical synthesis of published scientific literature on a relevant research topic. Reviews may employ narrative, systematic, or other scientifically justified approaches. A Review Article must compare and evaluate previous findings, identify research gaps, and provide meaningful scientific insights rather than merely summarize individual publications.

Language and General Format

Manuscripts may be written in Indonesian or English. All manuscripts must follow the official Jurnal FisTa template, including the prescribed page layout, margins, spacing, headings, and other formatting elements. The main manuscript text must use Times New Roman, 11 pt, following the paragraph formatting provided in the template.

Authors must preserve the journal's manuscript layout, including its header, footer, and other formatting elements. Publication information such as volume, issue, page numbers, DOI, and article history will be finalized during the editorial and production processes.

Authors are also encouraged to cite relevant articles previously published in Jurnal FisTa: Fisika dan Terapannya where scientifically appropriate.

Manuscript Information

The following elements must be prepared according to the official manuscript template:

  • Title
Each manuscript must include a title in Indonesian and English. Titles should be concise, clear, informative, and representative of the scientific content. Each title must contain no more than 15 words and must be written in Times New Roman, 14 pt, bold.
  • Authors and Affiliations
Author names must be written in Times New Roman, 11 pt, bold, without academic degrees and without abbreviating personal names. Each author must provide the relevant institutional affiliation, including the department or study program, institution, city or region, postal code, and country.

Superscript numbers must be used to identify the authors' respective affiliations. The corresponding author must be indicated with an asterisk (*) and must provide a valid email address.

  • Abstract
Each manuscript must include an abstract in Indonesian (Abstrak) and English (Abstract). Each abstract must be written in a single paragraph and must not exceed 250 words.

For a Research Article, the abstract must briefly present the research background, objectives, main methods, significant findings (including quantitative results where relevant), conclusions, and implications.

For a Review Article, the abstract must explain the review objective, literature search and synthesis approach, principal findings, identified research gaps, and conclusions. The abstract should emphasize the scientific contribution rather than provide a general description of the topic.

Abstracts must not contain citations, tables, figures, or unexplained abbreviations.

Abstract format: Times New Roman, 10 pt; single spacing. The English abstract must follow the italic formatting shown in the official template.

  • Keywords
Authors must provide a minimum of three and a maximum of five keywords in Indonesian and English. Keywords should represent the main concepts, methods, research objects, or scientific parameters discussed in the manuscript. Keywords must be separated by semicolons (;).

Keyword format: Times New Roman, 9 pt; single spacing.

Article Structure

The manuscript must be organized into the following sections, with methodological details adjusted to the manuscript type:

  1. Introduction
The Introduction must present the scientific background, relevant theoretical concepts, previous research, current state of the art, research gap, novelty or scientific contribution, and research objectives.

Authors should explain the scientific problem or technological need motivating the study and support their arguments with relevant facts, data, and scientific literature. Theoretical concepts, principles, and models may be included where directly relevant to the research problem.

Previous studies must be critically discussed to demonstrate the development of knowledge in the field. Authors should compare relevant findings, methods, and limitations rather than simply describe previous publications individually.

The research gap and novelty must be clearly identified and supported by appropriate references. The final part of the Introduction must explicitly state the research objectives. Research questions or hypotheses may be included where relevant.

The Introduction should be presented in coherent, connected paragraphs without unnecessary subheadings.

  2. Research Methods
This section must describe the research approach, materials or data sources, procedures, and methods of analysis in sufficient detail to allow scientific evaluation and traceability.

For a Research Article, authors must describe the research design, materials or objects, instruments, procedures, variables, measurement conditions, and data analysis methods, as appropriate.

Experimental studies should explain sample preparation, experimental procedures, operating parameters, measurement repetitions, calibration, validation, and relevant environmental conditions.

Computational, theoretical, modeling, or simulation studies must describe the relevant models, assumptions, governing equations, parameters, algorithms, software, and computational procedures.

Where material or sample characterization is required, authors should identify the methods, instruments, measured parameters, and relevant testing conditions. Statistical methods, uncertainty analysis, and validation procedures should be explained where appropriate.

For a Review Article, this section must explain the literature review method, whether narrative, systematic, or another scientifically justified approach. Authors should describe the literature sources or databases, search terms, search period, reference selection criteria, literature evaluation, and synthesis methods. For systematic reviews, a study-selection flow diagram should be provided when relevant.

The titles and number of subsections may be adjusted according to the manuscript type. Subsections that are not relevant to the study should be omitted.

Authors should use the International System of Units (SI) consistently. Where ethical approval is required, the relevant committee or institution and approval number must be identified.

  3. Results and Discussion
This section must present the principal findings and provide a scientific interpretation of their meaning in relation to the research objectives, relevant theories, and previous investigations.

For a Research Article, the results may include experimental data, measurements, calculations, theoretical predictions, or simulation findings. Authors should report important numerical values, physical quantities and units, observed trends, relationships between variables, and uncertainties or statistical findings where relevant.

The discussion must explain the findings using appropriate scientific concepts, physical laws, mechanisms, or theoretical models. Authors should critically compare their findings with previous studies, explain similarities and differences, identify limitations, and discuss scientific implications.

For a Review Article, results and discussion should present a structured and critical synthesis of the selected literature. Authors should compare findings, methodologies, scientific parameters, strengths, limitations, and unresolved issues to establish meaningful insights and research directions.

Results and Discussion may be integrated and organized using relevant subheadings where necessary. Scientific claims and conclusions must be supported by the evidence presented in the manuscript.

  4. Conclusion
The Conclusion must directly address the research objectives or questions presented in the Introduction.

For a Research Article, the Conclusion should emphasize the principal findings, important numerical results where relevant, and scientific contributions supported by the data.

For a Review Article, the Conclusion should summarize the synthesis of scientific knowledge, identify unresolved research problems, and discuss relevant implications or future research directions.

The Conclusion must not introduce new findings, unnecessarily repeat the abstract, or make claims beyond the available evidence.

  5. Acknowledgments (Optional)
Authors may acknowledge individuals, institutions, or organizations that provided technical support, research facilities, or other assistance that does not qualify for authorship. Funding information already stated in the Funding declaration should not be unnecessarily repeated. This section may be omitted if it is not applicable.
  6. Declarations
The manuscript must include the relevant declarations provided in the official journal template. These statements support transparency, accountability, and research integrity. Detailed requirements are provided in the Declarations section below.
  7. References
All citations and references must follow the American Psychological Association (APA), 7th edition, referencing style. Detailed requirements are provided in the References and Citations section below.

Tables, Figures, Graphs, and Equations

All tables, figures, graphs, and equations must be referred to in the manuscript text before they appear. Each item must be accompanied by a relevant scientific explanation.

  • Tables
Tables must be numbered consecutively (Table 1, Table 2, etc.), with captions placed above the table. Table captions must use Times New Roman, 11 pt. Only the table number and label should be bold, while the title should remain in regular, nonitalic text.

Vertical borders should be avoided, and horizontal lines should be used only where necessary. Column headings must identify the relevant quantities and measurement units. Numerical and decimal notation must remain consistent.

Tables should not be unnecessarily divided across pages. Authors must refer to and interpret each table in the text rather than merely repeat its numerical contents. The same data should not be presented identically in both tables and graphs without a clear scientific justification.

  • Figures and Graphs
Figures, graphs, diagrams, and scientific illustrations must be numbered consecutively (Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.), with captions placed below the figure. Captions must use Times New Roman, 11 pt, with only the figure number and label in bold.

All figures must be clear, properly proportioned, and sufficiently sharp. Images must not be stretched or distorted, and all labels, legends, and annotations must remain readable.

Graphs must display the names of physical quantities and their units on both axes. Figures reproduced or adapted from other publications must include appropriate source attribution, and authors must comply with applicable copyright and licensing requirements.

  • Mathematical Equations
Equations must be prepared using the Microsoft Word Equation Editor and must not be inserted as images.

Equations must be centered, with consecutive numbers in parentheses, such as (1), (2), and (3), aligned to the right on the same line.

Each equation must be introduced in the text before its appearance. For example: "The dimensionless function used in the electrospray droplet-size model is expressed in Equation (1)."

All variables, symbols, parameters, and measurement units must be explained when first introduced. Physical variables should be italicized where appropriate, while SI units should be written in upright type.

Equations obtained or adapted from previous publications must be properly cited. The official template includes an example of an equation from Kamaruddin et al. (2026).

Declarations

The manuscript must include the following declarations where applicable:

  • Author Contributions
Describe each author's actual contributions, including conceptualization, methodology, investigation, data analysis, visualization, manuscript preparation, and review, as appropriate. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript.
  • Funding
Identify the funding institution and grant or contract number, where applicable. If the study received no specific funding, this must be explicitly stated.
  • Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, professional, or personal interests that could influence the research or interpretation of its findings. If no conflicts exist, an explicit declaration must be provided.
  • Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence
Authors must transparently declare any relevant use of generative artificial intelligence (AI), including the name of the tool or model and its specific purpose. All AI-assisted content must be reviewed and verified by the authors, who remain responsible for the scientific integrity of the manuscript.

AI tools cannot be listed as authors. If AI is used as part of the research methodology or data analysis, this must also be explained in the Research Methods section. Authors who did not use generative AI to produce or modify the scientific substance of the manuscript should provide the corresponding declaration, as illustrated in the official template.

  • Ethical Approval (Where Applicable)
Studies requiring ethical approval must identify the relevant ethics committee, approval number, and year. If ethical approval is not applicable, authors should explicitly state "Not applicable."
  • Data Availability (Where Applicable)
Authors should explain how supporting research data may be accessed, including supplementary materials, institutional or scientific repositories, or reasonable requests to the corresponding author. Any restrictions on data access should be stated and justified.

References and Citations

All citations and references must follow the American Psychological Association (APA), 7th edition, referencing style. Every in-text citation must appear in the reference list, and every reference entry must correspond to a source cited in the manuscript.

Authors should prioritize recent scientific publications from the last 10 years, particularly the last 5 years, with emphasis on original research articles published in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Older publications, including classical or foundational references, may be cited when they remain scientifically relevant. Review articles and other scholarly sources may also be used where appropriate and scientifically justified.

References must be arranged alphabetically according to the surname of the first author, without numbering or separation by source type. DOI information must be provided in URL format when available. Authors must verify the accuracy and completeness of all bibliographic information.

Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote, or RefWorks to ensure consistency in citation and reference formatting.
